Discovery Bird Centre in Newington Armory

          History

Located in the Newington Armory in the Parklands at Sydney Olympic Park, the Discovery Centre involved the adaptive reuse of 4 heritage buildings over 250m2 for the purposes of administration, library and interpretive facilities. Adjoining the Newington Nature Reserve - which is of significant environmental value - the facility will provide an additional area of interest for the increasing number of visitors to the parklands. Importantly, it reinforces the partnership between the Sydney Olympic Park Authority (SOPA) and BirdLife Australia in engaging the community and promoting key messages on the value of birds and their habitats.
